Captor Programme to use Gedae as development environment

Gedae to be used for developing CAPTOR TRANCHE II
Edinburgh, Scotland Ulm, Germany. - January 15, 2001– BAE SYSTEMS Avionics group of Edinburgh and EADS of Ulm have jointly agreed to use Gedae, a software development productivity tool offered by Blue Horizon Development Software of Mt. Laurel, as the development environment for the Captor Tranche II RADAR Programme.

Gedae is based on a block diagramming programming paradigm. The versatility of the tool makes it available for all aspects of development including signal and data processing, application control, and integration with other systems. It is the versatility of the tool coupled with the fact that Gedae addresses the most difficult aspects of developing a signal processing application that makes it appealing for use on the Captor Programme.

Dr. Elmar Compans, Vice-President Airborne Radar EADS had this to say, "In the past, tools for increasing software production have often fallen short of their promises. After an intense evaluation of Gedae, we at EADS feel it is a notable exception. Gedae represents a giant leap forward in software production efficiency."

After a program has been developed in Gedae the application is implemented by generating code targeted to specific embedded hardware. The implementation rivals hand-coded efficiency and quality by building on layer of abstraction. Gedae provides all the tools needed to easily develop an application while improving productivity by 5x greatly reducing life cycle costs. Because of the large amount of effort required for the completion of the Captor program increased productivity becomes important, allowing both BAE and EADS to save large amounts of money on development costs.

Prof. John Roulston, BAE SYSTEMS Director of Technology said this, “Gedae gives us the ability to realize dramatic savings in cost and schedule. We anticipate keeping pace with advancing hardware technology during the 25-year lifetime of this RADAR. Gedae is changing the way our company thinks about using software to defeat complexity.”

Blue Horizon looks forward to working with both BAE and EADS to ensure the success of the Captor Tranche II RADAR Programme and Gedae. BHDS’ President and CEO, Bill Lundgren is excited about the relationship stating: “Blue Horizon is committed to the Captor Programmes’ successful use of Gedae. It represents the most aggressive use of our product to date. Early indications are that the Captor Programme is realizing the anticipated productivity improvements.

About Gedae, Inc.

The mission of Gedae [‘jE dA] Inc. is to reliably deploy to military personnel the most advanced technology available, which is achieved by automating software development technology. Modern systems at times rely on implementing system complexity in software. Gedae simplifies the development complexity to ultimately enhance the quality of the software.

Gedae, Inc. delivers a software development environment for multithread applications with w with its multithread compiler and a language also known as “Gedae.” The environment surrounds these core components with a suite of supporting tools to define and implement the threads. Gedae recognizes the architecture of the target and crafts a complex application, using simple software components: highly optimized vector and interprocessor communication routines. This automation means that organizations can build their software early and explore various architectures using simulations or real hardware — never having to rewrite their software.
